SUMMARY:When Children Won’t Eat: Picky Eaters vs Problem Feeders Assessment and Treatment using the SOS Approach to Feeding
DESCRIPTION:The Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding workshop is a trans-disciplinary program for assessing and treating children with feeding difficulties and weight/growth problems from birth to 18 years. It integrates posture\, sensory\, motor\, behavioral/learning\, medical\, and nutritional factors to comprehensively evaluate and manage children with feeding/growth problems. \nThe 5-day Main Conference is designed for babies\, toddlers and small children.  Other ages and special populations are covered in the Advanced Workshops.  \n  \nCOURSE OBJECTIVES: \nParticipants attending will be able to:  \n\nList the seven areas of human function that need to be examined to provide a comprehensive Feeding Assessment.\nIdentify at least five of the oral\, sensory\, motor\, cognitive or emotional developmental milestones key to being able to eat well.\nList three reasons why children won’t eat\, as based on learning theory principles.\nDifferentiate classical and operant conditioning principles as applied to resolving feeding problems.\nIdentify at least four of the necessary components of an SOS Approach to Feeding program for babies\, toddlers and young children in either an individual or group therapy session.\nList all three requirements for building a Food Hierarchy.\nIdentify at least one play based strategy for progressing a child up each of the 6 major Steps on the Steps to Eating Hierarchy.

SUMMARY:IALP Child Speech Committee Online Panel Series: SSD and DLD - Where do they overlap and where do they separate?
DESCRIPTION:  \nFor many years we have debated terminology for describing the needs of children with communication impairment across the globe. Researchers\, specialists\, clinicians\, parents and individuals with lived experience of the conditions have contributed to these discussions. \nThe IALP Child Speech Committee have organised a series of panel meetings to discuss the overlap and distinctions between the label ‘Speech Sound Disorder’ and other closely related conditions. We invite you to join these meetings which will consist of short presentations by key figures in the field. You will have an opportunity to submit questions which will be considered by the panel on the day. \nThe meetings will take place virtually in October and December 2021 and February and April 2022.
