SUMMARY:Social Stories™10.3 - A Carol Gray Social Story Workshop presented by Catherine Faherty
DESCRIPTION:Social Stories™10.3 – A Carol Gray Social Story Workshop presented by Catherine Faherty\, of Team Social Stories\n  \nDate: 01\, 08 & 15 Dec 2021 (Wed)\nTime: 8.00am – 11.00am (Singapore Standard Time GMT+0800)\nVenue: Live Online Training\n\nSocial Stories™* (Social Articles for adults) have helped individuals with autism of all ages understand and respond effectively to daily interactions and events. The earliest roots of Social Stories extend to efforts to help secondary students with autism succeed in vocational experiences in the community; giving Social Stories a sound philosophy and timeless practical value. Today\, Social Stories are an evidence-based practice used with individuals with social communication disorders worldwide. Despite the popularity of Social Stories\, parents and professionals often miss opportunities to write ‘that one Story that makes all the difference’ or neglect to systematically employ them throughout an individual’s lifespan.\n\nCatherine Faherty has been immersed in the world of autism since the 1980’s when she first was a special education teacher for children with autism in University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill TEACCH-affiliated classroom. She later worked as an autism specialist with TEACCH\, supporting – and learning from – hundreds of children and adults\, and their families. She has trained teachers nationally and internationally as a TEACCH Lead Teacher and Trainer\, and later as an independent consultant and trainer on a variety of topics related to autism. Catherine has written ground breaking books for children and adults with autism\, including Autism…What Does It Mean To Me? Future Horizons 2014\, with the first edition being in 2000 with the title Aspergers…What Does It Mean To Me?) Her book Understanding Death and Illness and What They Teach About Life\, Future Horizons 2008\, was named Autism Society Book of the Year in 2009. Catherine speaks with respect\, passion\, and gratitude from her nearly forty years of experience working and supporting autistic children and adults. She is one of a handful of people in the world whom Carol Gray has personally invited to teach Social Stories. There is a fundamental need for everyone to have information about life’s circumstances and situations\, and your presenter\, Catherine Faherty\, is committed to nurturing greater understanding about all aspects of life for individuals on the autism spectrum and their teachers\, therapists\, friends\, and family members.\n\nMore information: PDF\n\nRegistration: HERE
