ABOUT HKAST

The Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists was established in 1981. In the early years, there were only about twenty speech therapists available in Hong Kong. The early goal of the Association was to act as a platform for professional sharing and information transfer. Until 1989, a local speech therapy programme was founded in The University of Hong Kong. By that time, the number of members in the Association boosted.

Nowadays, we aim to promote and strengthen the professionalism among the speech therapists in Hong Kong. Besides, we continue to persuade the Hong Kong Government on salutatory professional registration on speech therapists, as well as to raise public awareness on local speech therapy services.

OUR OBJECTIVES

  • To promote and safeguard the interests of members of the Association.
  • To maintain professional standards of speech therapy services in Hong Kong.
