The Lidcombe Program for Early Stuttering 2026

This event is co-organized by the Division of Speech Therapy, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, together with the Speech and Hearing Social Enterprise Limited.

Description

The Lidcombe Program is an evidence-based, behavioral treatment for early stuttering. The treatment is administered by parents under the supervision of a speech-language pathologist. Research has shown that children can maintain high levels of speech fluency following treatment.

This workshop is designed for speech-language pathologists who are interested in working with young children who stutter. It will include short lectures, group activities, viewing and discussion of clinic visit videos, and case discussions.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the rationale and concepts of the Lidcombe Program
  • Confidently conduct the components of the Lidcombe Program – training parents, speech measures, therapy, and maintenance
