Use of the Terminology Framework for Child Language Disorders Across Settings

Background:
The Terminology for Child Language Disorders (TCLD) group has been working toward the diagnostic terms and criteria for child speech, language, and communication disorders in Hong Kong. The TCLD group produced a document summarizing the recommendations (The TCLD document was updated. You may download the third edition in this post), which was followed by two online forums for speech-language therapists (SLTs) to engage in open discussion in 2021 and 2022. Now, an online sharing session will be held to further promote professional exchange and application of the framework in speech-language therapy practice.

The upcoming online sharing session aims to reflect on the use of the terminology framework in daily practice, identify challenges, and discuss possible solutions as a professional community.

Presenters: SLT representatives from different settings
– Child Assessment Service, Department of Health
– Division of Speech Therapy, the Chinese University of Hong Kong
– ENT Laser Hearing and Speech Therapy Centre
– Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Education Services
– Po Leung Kuk Child Care Services

Join us in this important initiative towards better diagnostic practices for child language disorders. Let’s work together to improve our clinical practice and ensure better outcomes for our clients. We encourage all SLTs to read the TCLD document beforehand to get the most out of the session.
